Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year at Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School!
I hope everyone had a wonderful summer filled with time to relax, recharge, and enjoy family and friends. We are excited to welcome all of our students back for another year, and we extend a special welcome to those who are joining the Royal family for the first time.
At Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School, we believe every student deserves to learn in a school where they feel safe, valued, and connected. Our goal is to provide a positive and inclusive learning environment where students are challenged to grow academically, supported in their well-being, and encouraged to discover their strengths and passions.
This year, we will continue to build on The Royal Way — our shared commitment to being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. These values shape our classrooms, hallways, athletic teams, performances, and everyday interactions. They help create a school community where everyone feels welcomed, included, and empowered to do their best.
Our staff is committed to working in partnership with parents and guardians to support the success of every student. We know that strong relationships between home and school make a meaningful difference, and we are grateful for the ongoing support of our families and the broader Antigonish community.
Dr. JHG has a proud tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, the arts, skilled trades, leadership, and community involvement. I encourage every student to get involved, embrace new opportunities, and make the most of everything our school has to offer. Some of the most rewarding experiences and lasting memories are created through participation and connection beyond the classroom.
